Who will the event support?
The ‘Happy Mums, Happy Tums’ Appeal is on a mission to support mothers in Sierra Leone to take charge of their own health, because healthy mothers lead to healthy families.
Pregnancy and the early years after birth are tough times for all parents. But they can also be some of the most dangerous for mothers in rural areas of Sierra Leone. One of the biggest challenges is accessing a balanced and nutritious diet. Knowing what to feed your baby can be impossible if you don’t have the knowledge or money to buy varied and nutritious food.
The money raised through the ‘Happy Mums, Happy Tums’ events could:
– Train Community Health Workers with the nutritional knowledge they need to support mothers and babies where they live.
– Teach families how to raise livestock.
– Set up community gardens and give cooking demonstrations in local villages.
– Improve processes to refer malnourished families to health centres and ensure these centres have equipment to treat patients.
With your support we can DOUBLE the number of families we can support and DOUBLE the IMPACT you can make!
100% of proceeds raised on the night will be donated to Health Poverty Action’s ‘Happy Mums Happy Tums’ appeal. What’s more, every donation made will be doubled by the UK government. As part of the UK Aid Match appeal, all public donations before 31st December will be doubled by the UK government, up to £2 million! So you can double your impact supporting families, just like yours, in Sierra Leone. Click here for Appeal info
