Re-Connect
Following the government announcement on 19 July 2021 regarding COVID-19 restrictions, EMERALD was pleased to be able to recommence hosting in-person events as part of our ‘re-connect’ within the Ummah programme insha’Allah.
Thank you to everyone who have supported the on-line events via Zoom since Spring 2020. We have enjoyed safely returning to in-person events, with the first event ‘Eid in the City‘ in association with London Tea Exchange, sponsored by Algbra. However, we would like to draw attention to the following guidelines impacting on remainder of December (potentially January 2022), in keeping with government published advice – LATEST NEWS – ‘Plan B’ guidelines (correct at time of publishing 9/12/21):-
- Reintroducing guidance to work from home, if you can, from 13 December (our Emerald events in December are scheduled for 14, 15 and 31 December)
- Legally mandating face masks in “most public indoor venues”, including theatres and cinemas from 10 December, with exceptions “where it’s not practical, including while eating, drinking, exercising or singing” – our Emerald events will feature food and drink
- NHS COVID passes for nightclubs, unseated indoor venues with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people, and any venue with more than 10,000 people (our events are significantly lower in guest numbers, eg. 40-250 guest numbers typically)
- Daily testing for people identified as a contact of a coronavirus case – with isolation required only for people who test positive
OUR ON-GOING COMMITMENT:
LOCATIONS
EMERALD will liaise with venues to ensure they are ventilated as best as possible, with reduced venue capacity (to ensure potential for greater social distancing is maintained). We will consider both indoor and outdoor venues, however the latter will be impacted by weather conditions, hence majority of planned events for the foreseeable future will be indoors.
TESTING
EMERALD will NOT make it mandatory for guests to have had either vaccine nor testing before attending events, however we do recommend if you’re able to do so, please do as it will help prevent the spread of the virus.
Lateral flow tests are available FREE via the NHS site – it would be recommended to take a test in the morning of a given event (only takes 30mins to check results). If the result is positive – please DO NOT attend the event, you are welcome to email info@emeraldnetwork.co.uk and inform us of a replacement guest name (eg. friend / family / colleague who can attend on your behalf) or alternatively request for the ticket to be carried forward to be used at a future event. (Only in the unlikely instance of event cancellation will refunds be issued, eg. change of covid regulations).
IMPORTANT – COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
If you experience any common Covid-19 symptoms on the day of an event, we strongly advise AGAINST attending the event to minimise risk to all guests in attendance – this was mentioned on the booking form – please DO NOT attend if you are suffering from sore throat, loss of sense of taste, cough, fever, shortness of breath – please take the appropriate medical assistance and rest at home accordingly. As above (for testing positive), you are welcome to email info@emeraldnetwork.co.uk and inform us of a replacement guest name (eg. friend / family / colleague who can attend on your behalf) or alternatively request for the ticket to be carried forward to be used at a future event. (Only in the unlikely instance of event cancellation will refunds be issued, eg. change of covid regulations).
HANDS – FACE – SPACE
EMERALD will NOT mandate wearing face coverings (as our events feature food and drink), however, we encourage individuals free to wear them as a matter of personal choice. We will encourage all on arrival to use hand sanitiser, and discourage social contact in the form of hand shakes / hugs as a matter of precaution and respect for one another’s wishes to minimise risk. Please do not be offended if our Volunteers request maintaining social distance during the event, especially if crowding takes place in one area despite there being space in another – individuals may be politely asked to occupy the free space etc.
REFUND POLICY
EMERALD ensure clearly stated in the terms of booking, ONLY in the instance of event cancellations will refunds be issued (eg. government enforced closure of venues or chance in guest number limits preventing event from proceeding as scheduled or in the unexpected instance of host/volunteer illness). As a guest if you are unable to attend (eg. tested positive or feeling anxious/unwell), simply inform us by MIDDAY on event day, we will update the guest list accordingly, including any information such as a replacement guest name(s) if you have sold/transferred the ticket(s) to friends/family/colleague. With regret there is no scope to carry forward the ticket to another event due to costs relating to a given event (which can only be reimbursed if event cancelled as aforementioned eg. by venue, caterers, printers etc).
